Vapor Emission Monitoring

Whether Aromatics, Vinylchloride or other toxic volatile compounds are present in the soil is often only important in a risk assessment if these compounds actually migrate to the surface and are emitted to where people live and work. Flux chambers are frequently used. The one pictured has a double wall HDPE and sampling occurs below the lower layer as well as in between. When the compounds are absent between the two layers it is save to assume the lower chamber did not leak and the concentration determined in that chamber is the real concentration build up during the period of the test.
